How to determine current year is good or bad for you?

In Bazi,  one's natal chart determines the "quality" of the chart.  But it is only part of the destiny pie.  A "good quality" chart still "sucks" if its luck periods do not bring in the elements that the chart needs to prosper.

There are two types of "luck period"-- the "10-years luck" (10YL) and "annual luck" (AL).  10YL is calculated in terms of one's birth month, which is different from person to person.  10YL provides the backdrops or "climate" of one's luck within that 10-years period. 

Annual luck means one's overall luck for current year. In Bazi, everyone shares the same AL.  For example, current year 2017 is ding-you (fire-rooster) year.  Every person in the world is subject to the influences of the same annual luck of ding-you.  If fire and metal are favorable to one's chart, one will enjoy better luck within 2017.  If otherwise, one's luck will be below average.  The important thing about AL is:  Any fortune or misfortune will be triggered by AL because it brings the favorable or unfavorable elements to the chart.

In this post, we will keep it simple by focusing on how annual luck affects your luck:

1.  AL "fan-yin" or "fu-yin" 10YL:  "Fan-yin" means stem clashing stem and branch clashing branch between two pillars.  "Fu-yin" means two identical pillars.  Fan-yin and fu-yin usually are unfavorable to the daymaster (DM) and jinx his/her close relatives.
2.  Strong DM with AL brings in wealth, power and output (cai, guan and shi-shang) elements means favorable fortune for the year.  But if AL brings in resource and/ or peer (yin or bi-jian) elements, it means misfortune for the year.
3.  Weak DM with AL brings in resource and/ or peer (yin and bi-jian) elements means favorable fortune for the year.  But if AL brings in wealth, power and/ or output (cai, guan and shi-shang) elements, it means misfortune for the year.
4.  10YL is favorable with AL brings in zheng-cai (+wealth), zheng-guan (+power), zheng-yin (+resource), shi-shen (-output), and/ or bi-jian (-peer),  means current year fortune will be enhanced even further.  If AL brings in jie-cai (+peer), qi-sha (-power), pian-yin (-resource) and/ or shang-guan (+output), means current year fortune will be mixed with both good and bad fortune.
5.  10YL is unfavorable with AL brings in zheng-cai (+wealth), zheng-guan (+power), zheng-yin (+resource), shi-shen (-output), and/ or bi-jian (-peer),  means current year fortune will have minor fortunes but major mishaps.  If AL brings in jie-cai (+peer), qi-sha (-power), pian-yin (-resource) and/ or shang-guan (+output), means current year fortune will be very bad.
6.  AL stem/ branch combine with day pillar is generally considered good luck for the year.  AL fan-yin  (clashing stems and branches) or fu-yin (identical pillars) day-pillar is generally negative for DM because it affects DM and the spouse palace directly.  Usually this means something going on with marital relationship or personal sickness/ disaster.
7.  The stem and branch of AL are favorable elements ("yong-shen") of the natal chart would imply the year will be auspicious or fortunate.  If unfavorable ("ji-shen"), the year will be below average or unfortunate.

Anyway, the above is a rough guideline for making annual luck interpretations.  You still have to take the whole chart and both luck periods into consideration to make more accurate predictions.

Beauty and the Beast: Dog Edition

Sophie Wang, of Taiwan, has a 13 years old dog named "Black Bear".  This young woman treats Black Bear like her younger "brother".

Motor bikes are popular in Taiwan.  Black Bear is unable to sit on a bike.  Sophie bought a cloth carrier, carry Black Bear on her back and travels around the island on her bike.  She posts the daily live and travel with Black Bear on her Facebook page.

A few days ago, while traveling with Black Bear on her back,  Sophie something warm rushing down her back.  The aging Black Bear has incontinence.  A 13 years old dog is equivalent to a 70 years old human.

Below is the original descriptions written by Sophie translated from Chinese:

"The weather is so nice.  After work, had I rushed back home to carry Black Bear for a joyride on my motor bike.   While cruising, my tail vertebra suddenly felt something warm flowing downward.   I had a not so nice premonition coming up.......

I had touched my back.  It was wet.  I had smelled it.  It was smelly. 😑

I have already known that Black Bear is very old and may have incontinence problem occasionally.  So upon returning home, I took Black Bear to the bathroom to wash and clean up.  While washing, Black Bear had lowered his head as if blaming himself for the mishap.  Of course I did not scold him.  I know Black Bear was not deliberately to wet me.  I had petted his head and said, "Never mind, everything will be all right after a little wash.  Sister Siao Siao is waiting to eat beef now!"

Dogs are similar to human,  require more care when getting old.  Please do not avoid or abandon them, because they are your family members."

這麼好的天氣，下班立馬衝回家揹著黑熊騎哺哺兜風，騎著騎著，姊姊的尾椎骨部位感到一股熱流，不好的預感湧上....
手一模，溼了，拿上前一聞，騷的😑😑😑
姊姊其實知道，黑熊年紀大了，有時候會有失禁的問題，所以回到家後，就先把黑熊帶進浴室清洗，清洗時黑熊頭都低低的，好像很自責，姊姊當然沒有罵他，因為姊姊知道黑熊一定不是故意的，拍拍他的頭跟他說：沒關係喲～洗一洗就好了，姊姊秀秀，等等吃牛肉噢！
狗狗和人一樣，老了一定會需要更多的照顧，請不要拋棄或嫌棄他們，因為他們是你的家人

Dogs have luck too.  Some homeless dogs suddenly are adopted by nice families while some dogs get abandoned or mistreated by their owners.

Feng Shui: Bad locations for bathroom

There was no plumbing in ancient China, bathroom was put outside the house.  With modern plumbing and flush toilet, bathroom is integrated into the house interior. 

Bathroom is important in Feng Shui because it is where wastes or negative qi/ energy accumulates and removed.  Every resident in a house uses the bathroom everyday.  The location of bathroom affects the health and luck of the residents of the household.

The locations below are where NOT to put your bathroom:

1. Southwest location:  This is the location of Kun trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the oldest female or mother of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of the mother.  It also affects marital relationship of the couple.
2. Northwest location:  This is the location of Qian trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the oldest male or father of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of the father.  It also affects marital relationship of the couple and career of the father.
3. Northeast location:  This is the location of Gen trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the youngest male or son of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of this son.  Gen trigram also represents the current Feng Shui Period 8 luck for the house.  This may affect the overall luck of the household.
4. South location:  This is the location of Li trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the middle daughter or 30+ years old female of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of this female mother.   Li trigram is fire in nature and bathroom is water in nature.  This will create water and fire clashes that may give rise to disasters and accidents to the residents.
5. Center location:  This is the worst location for a bathroom.  Center is like the "heart" of a house and should be kept quiet, clean, minimized movements, no heavy objects, no staircase and no bathroom.  Sickness like heart problem and acute illness may occur to the residents if a bathroom is put in this location.   This is also the most difficult problem to fix here.  Walk away if you find a new house with a bathroom in the house center.

Bazi: Meanings of "Void" in pillars and 10 transformation stars

"Void" means nothing, missing, lacking karma and poor or no relationship in Bazi.  "Void" occurs because there are 12 earthly branches to match with ten heavenly stems.  Two branches in each group of 10 binomials in the 60-jia-zi cycle will have no match and are defined as "in void".


MEANINGS OF VOID IN PILLARS (四柱空亡)

• Year pillar in void:  Year pillar represents life period between age 1-16.  Daymaster (DM) suffers obstacles and illness during this period; lacking support from older generations.
• Month pillar in void:  Month pillar represents life period between age 17-32.  DM suffers obstacles more than successes during this period;  disharmony or with little or no relationship with siblings or parents.
• Day pillar in void:  Day pillar represents life period between age 33-48.  DM suffers bad luck in career/ wealth and disharmony in family during this period;  poor relationship with wife; wife may die prematurely or simply no wife
• Hour pillar in void:  hour pillar represents life period after age 48.  DM has little or no relationship with children or simply no children; cannot rely on children for old age support; likely to be alone and poor

MEANINGS OF VOID IN 10 TRANSFORMATION STARS  ("10 Gods"十神空亡)

1. Bi-jian (+peer) in void:  few siblings or siblings are not helpful or in disharmony; male DM will have no wife or wife is not helpful;  female DM lacks relationship with husband
2. Jie-cai (-peer) in void:  incapable or unhelpful siblings;  problems in accumulating wealth; easy to waste money away.
3. Shang-guan (+output) in void:  few children or no kid; marital problem or remarry
4. Shi-shen (-output) in void:  decreases in blessing and life expectancy
5. Zheng-cai  (+wealth) in void:  problems in accumulating wealth;  toiling hard for money; lacking relationship with wife; late marriage;  family disharmony.
6. Pian-cai (-wealth) in void:  jinxing father;  lacking relationship with father; no "unexpected wealth" luck
7. Zheng-guan (+power) in void:  deceases in wealth from government career; not suitable for public post;  few children for male DM;  poor relationship with husband for female DM.
8. Qi-sha (-power) in void:  lacking mentor/ help from superiors or senior generation; DM has no authority or influence;  few children for male DM;  poor relationship with husband for female DM.
9. Zheng-yin (+resource) in void:  problems in achieving authority and academic successes;  jinxing mother.
10. Pian-yin (+resource) in void:  problems in getting success in academia or school; jinxing step-mother.

Winning Feng Shui for small group gambling

The tips below are for increasing the probability of winning in small group gambling like table games (blackjack, poker and the likes) and Chinese mahjog.  These games are characterized by a small group of people, usually less than 10,  sit around a table and play.

I deliberately do NOT explain the rationale behind the tips below (take my "Visual Form Feng Shui" course if you are curious).  You may understand the theories behind if you have studied Feng Shui.

FENG SHUI TIPS FOR SOCIAL GAMBLING

1. Sitting location:  Your back must have a wall or a tall object as your "back support".  It must not be empty or your wealth luck will suffer.
2. Facing:  Your facing direction must be open and wide.  It is even better this open space is connected to the main door to receive wealth energy from outside. This affects the magnitude of your wealth luck. 
3. See no toilet:  Your facing must NOT seeing/facing a toilet.
4. No toilet at your back: Your back location must not be a toilet.
5. Round table:  If sitting around a round table, sit at the side that has a wall.
6. Square table:  If sitting around a square or rectangular table, sit at the side with a wall.  If the side has two seats, sit at the right side.  If the side has 3 seats, sit in the middle.  If the side has 4 seats, sit at the third seat (counting from the left), if you cannot get the third seat, sit on the 4th seat. 
7. Avoid traffic:  If you cannot get the ideal seat, avoid the seat on the side with walking traffic at your back.
8. Time-out:  Take a break to "recharge" your energy when someone keeps winning (to interrupt his winning streak energy) or you keep losing.

These tips have been tested and found high accuracy in predicting who will win or loss in small group social gambling situation.

Similar principles can be applied to casino situation.  Avoid dealer with a back support like a wall or tall object.  Sit at the right side of a table (but make sure there are people in your left side) and avoid opening/ door at your back.  Unfortunately, it is rare to find back support/ wall for gamblers in casinos.  So at the least, find a dealer with an empty space at his back, the bigger the better.

A student of mine has combined Imperial Qi-Men-Dun-Jia and Bazi to win slot machines in casinos.  His winnings are more than enough to pay for my courses and more.
